Freemasons intervention provides a future for children with Autism

How do you tell your child that they no longer have a school to go to? Well if there are Freemasons involved you can rest assured that that won't happen.

In early March 2012 Bro Tim Walter approached the STEP Team with a rather delicate and urgent request for help. The Aspect Hunter School which provided education and assistance for children with Autism was asked to relocate, without funds and nowhere to go it looked as if they would have to close their doors.

Studies have shown that if children with Autism receive intensive therapy and treatment prior to the age of 6 that it makes a significant difference to their outcome long term – something had to be done.

Freemasons-Intervention-pic3Freemasons throughout the jurisdiction joined together with community leaders to help find a solution. Led by a team of selfless individuals, such as Bros Stephen Zeller, Ben Crockett, John Moore and Matt Broadbent, they were successful in raising over $11,000.00 (which was the single largest amount from any community group) with a fundraiser that was attended by over 150 people.

The children now have much needed equipment in their intervention centre, allowing them to enjoy regular therapy with professional equipment thanks to Freemasons.
