The William Thompson Masonic Schools – Baulkham Hills The Balcombe Heights Estate

In July 2013, Mr Ross McIntosh recommended Grand Lodge to visit the Register of War Memorials web site: warmemorialsregister.nsw.gov.au

This web site contains information and photos of three (3) war memorials at the Balcombe Heights Estate (the former William Thompson Masonic Schools), the WWI Memorial, WWII Memorial and the Commemorative Stone for the 103rd Australian General Hospital.

To find the information and photos of the above three memorials type ‘Baulkham’ in the search field.  On each of the photographs, under ‘i’ in the top left corner, there is further information provided.

The WWI Memorial represents all the Freemasons who died in the WWI from NSW and has 361 names listed of which over 300 names have been researched.  The outstanding names require further research as there is conflicting information with spelling and official records of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra and the National Archives.

Research on the WWII Memorial and the Commemorative Stone for the 103rd Australian General Hospital have been completed.

Mr McIntosh is to be commended on the dedicated work and research he has done so far and any comments or assistance that may be received will be passed on to Mr McIntosh.

Yours fraternally,

Kevin McGlinn PDGM
