Joseph (Joey) Dunlop M.B.E. O.B.E. (1952-2000)
Racing Motorcyclist.
Five times Formula One Champion and also 26 victories in the Isle of Man T.T. races. Joey Dunlop was rated by some as the greatest motor-bike rider ever.
He was awarded the M.B.E. in 1986 for services to road racing and the O.B.E. in 1996 for farther services to road racing and humanitarian causes Bro. Dunlop has been organising and conveying relief supplies to help the Peoples of Eastern Europe for quite a number of years. Whilst racing in Tallin Estonia Joey was involved in an accident and died from his injuries.
Bro. Joey was a member of Lodge No. 17 (Irish Constitution)
Initiated:- Feb. 3rd. 1989. Passed:- Mar. 3rd. 1989.
He was involved in a serious crash at Brands Hatch with the result that, among other injuries, he was unable to kneel etc. and on his own insistence he postponed his third degree until he was fit.
