US boxer.

 

 

 

 

 

He reigned as the undefeated world welterweight champion from December 20 1946 until February 14 1951,  he defended his title five times. Defeating Jake LaMotta 1951, he took the middleweight title. He lost the title six times and won it seven times.

He retired at the age of 45.
