Weddell who first charted, in 1823, what is now called the Weddell Sea

The arm of the S Atlantic Ocean that cuts into the Antarctic continent SE of Cape Horn; area 8,000,000 sq km/3,000,000 sq mi. Much of it is covered with thick pack ice for most of the year.

 

Bro. James was a member of Lodge Royal Arch, Edinburgh, chartered in 1765 and has  long been dormant. (ref  Grand  Lodge  Year  Book  1978  page78.)
