150^th Anniversary of the Grand Lodge of Uruguay

 

 

 

 

In 1830, a group of Uruguayan Freemasons, initiated in foreign lodges, obtained a warrant from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania for Lodge Asilo de la Virtud, which “warranted” several other lodges over the next years.

An influx of lodges warranted from Brazil was chartered between 1835 and 1855, leading to the foundation of the Grand Lodge of Uruguay in 1856
