W. C. Fields. (1880–1946)
Stage name of William Claude Dukenfield
US actor and screenwriter. His distinctive speech and professed attitudes such as hatred of children and dogs gained him enormous popularity in such films as David Copperfield 1935, My Little Chickadee (co-written with Mae West) and The Bank Dick both 1940, and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break 1941.
Originally a vaudeville performer, he incorporated his former stage routines, such as juggling and pool playing, into his films. He was also a popular radio performer.
Bro. William was a member of E. Coppee Mitchel Lodge No.605 Philadelphia.
Received all three degrees on May 20th. 1907, probably by special dispensation.
