Conference of the Grand Masters of Masons in North America, Atlanta, USA, 19-22 February 2012

Data of the Commission for Information on Admissions

BULGARIA

There is still no progress in respect of the reunification of Freemasonry in Bulgaria. Both Grand Lodges presented their views to the Commission, but there was no interest on the part of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria to participate in talks with the GL of AF&AM of Bulgaria neither for the unification, nor for preparation of an agreement for sharing the jurisdiction. It seems that both Grand Lodges practice regular Freemasonry – they both have the same origin until they split in 2001. Over the last eight years the Commission has encouraged the two Grand Lodges to overcome their differences – to no avail, therefore this issue shall not be addressed until Brethren in Bulgaria reach some agreement, which should meet the standards for recognition.
