HISTORY OF REGULAR BULGARIAN FREEMASONRY

CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS

1958 - The Magna Charta of German Freemasons was signed and the United Grand Lodges of Germany was formed (UGLsG).
1990 - UGLsG consecrated the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia.
1992
  • The Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia consecrated three Lodges in Orient Bulgaria, namely: „Svetlina”, „Sgovor” and „Zaria”, followed by the consecration of the GRAND LODGE OF BULGARIA. MW Bro. Georgi Krumov was elected and Installed Grand Master.
  • German Lodge „Lessing zum flammenden Stern” – Orient München under the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Germany (a member of UGLsG) established a Deputation Lodge “Zora” in Sofia
  • Structures of Grand Orient of France, as well as of the co-Masonic structures „Humanitat” and „Le Droit Humain” started to function in Bulgaria.
1994-1995 - The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Germany (UGLsG) consecrated the Lodges „Svetlina”, „Serdika”, „Zora”, „Zaria” and „Chernomorski priateli”, working on the territory of Orient Bulgaria.
1995 - A group of Brethren from the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria, consecrated in 1992, leave it to individually join the Lodges „Svetlina”, „Serdika”, „Zora”, „Zaria” and „Chernomorski priateli”.
1996 - The so-called „Grand Masonic Lodge for Men and Women” started to operate in Orient Bulgaria.
1997
  • MW Bro. Stoyan Raichevski was elected and Installed Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria.
  • MW Bro. Yanko Bonev was elected and installed Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria.
  • (at the end of the 1997 calendar year).
  • United Grand Lodges of Germany consecrated the GRAND LODGE OF FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS OF BULGARIA. MW Bro. Ivan Stavrev was Installed Grand Master.
2000
  • MW Bro. Borislav Sarandev was elected and Installed Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Bulgaria.
  • 24 December – The Grand Master, MW Bro. Borislav Sarandev suspended 5 Lodges, members of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Bulgaria, namely: „Svetlina”, „Zaria”, „Serdika”, „Chernomorski priateli” and „Asen Zlatarov”, as well as 25 individual Brethren.
2001
  • 23 April – UNIFICATION OF THE GRAND LODGE OF BULGARIA AND THE GRAND LODGE OF FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS OF BULGARIA. The unification protocol was signed by MW Bro. Yanko Bonev and MW Bro. Borislav Sarandev. The name of the unified Masonic structure remained GRAND LODGE OF FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS OF BULGARIA, its Grand Master – MW Bro. Borislav Sarandev, its Deputy Grand Master – MW Bro. Yanko Bonev.
  • 8 May – The Supreme Masonic Court expelled 5 Lodges, namely: „Svetlina”, „Zaria”, „Serdika”, „Chernomorski priateli” and „Asen Zlatarov”, as well as 25 individual Brethren.
  • The so-called „Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria” was constituted, currently presided by Mr. Volodya Lozanov
2003 - 8 Lodges form the so-called „Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria” were regularized into the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Bulgaria, namely: „Svetlina”, „Makedonska Zora”, „Puldin”, „Serdika”, „Acad. Mihail Arnaudov”, „Svetlinata na Trakite”, „Kabile” and „Zaria”.
2004 - MW Bro. Petyo Penkov was elected and Installed Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Bulgaria at the Annual Communication in November. The name of the Grand Lodge was changed to the UNTIED GRAND LODGE OF BULGARIA, according to the provisions of the Unification protocol, signed in 2001.
2006 - Lodge „Perlata na Sliven” from the so-called „Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria” was regularized into the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria (by individuals).
2008 - MW Bro. Grigorii Vazov was elected and Installed Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria at the Annual Communication in November.
2010 - The so-called „Grand Lodge of Bulgaria” was constituted, currently presided by Mr. Savino Batanov.
2011
  • Lodge „Augusta Trayana” from the so-called „Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria” was regularized into the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria (by individuals).
  • MW Bro. Ivan Sariev was elected and Installed Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria at the Annual Communication in May.
2012 - Lodge „Sgovor” from the so-called „Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria” was regularized into the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria (by individuals).

 

General trends • Ever since 2001 individual Brethren are being regularized from different irregular bodies and co-Masonic formations.
