Composition
Like everything in Masonry the Coat of Arms of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria is a combination of many symbols, situated around the undivided authority - the letter G, which for Freemasons symbolises God and Geometry. G is the centre between the celestial or spirituality (the Compasses) and terrestrial or our earthly origin (the Square), elated by the wings of Freedom – one of the basic requirements to every Mason – to be just, upright and free man. The eternal antagonism of the individual (square and compasses) stand on the nodded rope and the globe, symbol of the Masons’ unity all over the world. The nodded rope is a symbol of the of the Brotherly love and symbolises the value of self-sacrifice which every masons is ready to do for a Brother in distress.
The nods are symbol of continuity, connection and inevitability of the destiny. The composition is surrounded by the mantle of glory, starting from the All-seeing eye (allusion of the Egyptian origin of Freemasonry)and ending with two years – the years of Installation of the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria (1992) and the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Bulgaria (1997). Above those is the year of the Unification (2001), or the year of the creation of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria.
