I have been away from Freemasonry for several years, not by choice but owing to personal and professional commitments. In the last few months I have been able to meet again with the Brethren of my mother Lodge and I couldn't be happier!
Six years ago, I invited any other suitably qualified young men to consider joiing the ranks of the The Order, and I feel it only but fitting to make the same statement today. Ours is an aging Organisation and it is essential to secure the interest of younger men not only to join but to promote and stand over the facets of our Order.
Incidentally, should there be any old Instonians (young or not so young!) out there who wish to combine Masonry with an old flame or who wish to join afresh, please drop me a line!

I'm researching Capt. Thomas Preston of the 29th Regiment of foot, and found this website through looking for Masonic lodges attached to military units that were stationed in Boston in the mid-1700's. My hope is to find what happened to him after he returned to England and retired from the military.
I am also interested in the differences between Irish masonry (which I believe has some of the oldest charters in masonry), and "American" masonry. I know some of our charters came form Ireland and Scotland in the early 1700's, but through revision and various standardizations I'm sure a lot has changed from our original roots.

Took the opportunity to stop by after seeing your link displayed within the Grand Lodge of Greece website. I lived in Houston, Texas U.S.A : Houston Lodge 1189, Scottish Rite: Valley of Houston Oriente of Texas, and a Noble in Arabia Shrine.
I moved to Sweden a year ago, and was adopted by a lodge (Swedish Rite) their rituals are similar to ours, but definely not English Rite. I figured some masonry was better than none.

Wonderful webpage. I have a son that just went to Dublin for a couple of months to search his irish roots and play some music. My great grand dad came from Co. Wicklow in the mid 1800s.
