UP	Obituary - Deputy Grand Master R.W. Bro. Eric Fenelon M.B., F.R.C.S.I. Immediate Past Deputy Grand Master 1992 - 2002 Died :- 4th August 2005 We were all greatly shocked to learn of the recent death of R.W. Bro. Eric Fenelon, the Immediate Past Deputy Grand Master. Following a short illness he passed away peacefully at his home in the loving presence of his wife Sylvia and family. His remains were cremated at a private family service and a service of thanksgiving for his life and times is planned at a later date. Through this medium, I would extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family in their sad loss and pray that God’s presence may be ever near to comfort them in their grief. Eric will be greatly missed, as he was indeed a very special person. His company was always interesting and enjoyable and he always had time for a word. My last meeting with Eric and Sylvia was at the Placido Domingo Concert in The Point Theatre where they both had a very enjoyable evening. He tired easily and was not up to attending the Grand Banquet held after the event, yet was most charitable in his support. Two memories which impact on me most was his first Chairmanship of a Grand Lodge Communication, held in October 2001 at Newtownards, where he won the hearts of all and delivered a most successful and enjoyable meeting under circumstances which could have proved difficult and then his brilliant speech at the 275th Celebratory Dinner of Grand Lodge in the presence of the Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, HRH The Duke of Kent and a host of other important dignitaries. We were truly proud of him on those occasions.R.W. Bro. Fenelon was Deputy Grand Master from 1992 to 2002, having previously served as Assistant Grand Master from 1989. He held the post of Honorary Past Grand High Priest at the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter and was an Illustrious Brother of the 32nd Degree. He chaired the Freemasons’ of Ireland Medical Research Fund and had recently ventured into a new and exciting kidney research project with University College Cork. I was privileged to succeed him as Deputy Grand Master and greatly appreciate his guidance and kindness which has left me with fond memories of a very dear friend. R.W.Bro.
