The Provincial Grand Lodge of Dunbartonshire Erskine Donation
Founded in 1916, Erskine has provided nursing and medical care for former members of our Armed Forces through two world wars and the more recent conflicts and peace keeping initiatives of the twentieth and twenty first centuries.
Erskine relies on voluntary donations and over the past eighteen months the Freemasons in Dunbartonshire have had a concerted effort to raise funds for this charity. The twenty one Lodges in the Province organised dances, raffles, sponsored walks etc to raise funds for Erskine. Funds raised were enhanced with generous donations from Lennox Sovereign Chapter and Circle Publications as well as quite a few individual donations. The overall sum raised was £20,000.
Erskine Director of Operations Keith Taylor accompanied by a few of the Erskine staff and veterans came along to a dinner at Dumbarton in October 2007 to meet the Dunbartonshire Freemasons and to give the Brethren an insight into the work carried out at Erskine.
At the end of the evening Brother Thomas K. Leckenby, Provincial Grand Master Dunbartonshire presented Erskine with a cheque for £20,000 on behalf of the Freemasons of Dunbartonshire. During the presentation the Provincial Grand Master praised the great effort from the Lodges and Brethren especially as they continued to support their own local charities while raising funds for Erskine.
