The organ was installed in 1913 and although reglarly maintained there comes a point a complete stripdown and re-build is required.

If you think that this looks a mess (which it is) you should see round the back!

The Grand Lodge of Scotland managed to secure £50,000 toward the restoration of the organ from the National Heritage Fund that is still an long way short of the total cost. The Grand Lodge of Scotland has issued an appeal for additional funds to make up the short fall and the Grand Master Masons' letter of appeal can be down loaded by clicking here or from the previous link. THe download file is in PDF format and to open and read the file you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on you computer, This free software avaiable from the Abode wensite but there are plently of other sites available from which it can be downloaded.

We intend to post pictures of the organ restoration in progress in due course.

It is hoped that the organ will be fully restored in time for the International Conference on the History of Freemasonry (ICHF) which is to be held in Freemasons' Hall 29 - 31 May 2009.
