Masons mark charity milestone by raising £150,000 for causes

Donations made by Freemasons across central Lanarkshire to non-Masonic charities during the last four years has topped the £150,000 mark.

Brother James L. Jack, Provincial Grand Master. Lanarkshire Middle Ward, paised the Brethren of the Lodges in the Province for their commitment and generosity in reaching this milestone.

He said: "When I became Provincial Grand Master in June 2006, one of my major objectives was to raise the profile of Freemasonry in Lanarkshire and the valuable charity work it carries out.

"To top the £150,000 mark inside four years is a tremendous achievement and everyone deserves the highest credit for their generosity and support.

"Many Lodges from central Lanakshire make frequent donations of a few hundred punds to their favourite charities from regular charity events events while others organise special events which invariably result in a large sum of money being donated.

"Either way, they all deserve great credit for their efforts.

"I hope they will be able to carry on this worthwhile effort.

"They have brought great credit not only to Freemasonry in Lanarkshire but to Freemasonry itself."
