In 2012, Hiram Lodge, in conjunction with the Brethren of the Black Sea Anchor Lodge, jointly raised funds to purchase new bathroom facilities in the Children's Home in Dobrich. This Children's Home has an extra wing which they wanted to use for children with disabilities but unfortunately, as they did not have the funds to install adequate bathroom and toilet facilities, this wing remained unused. It was thanks to the generosity of the Brethren of the Black Sea Anchor Lodge and Hiram Lodge that this was able to be done! The amount donated between the two Lodges exceeded 5,000 Leva.
In April of 2012, Hiram Lodge organised one of the biggest events we have held to date; selling in excess of 150 tickets to a family barbeque which was held at the Riverside Restaurant in Dragalevtzi. This event raised in excess of 4,000 Leva in Aid of the Angelia Foundation, from both private donations as well as from raffling numerous prizes kindly donated by attendees.
On December 15h 2012, Hiram Lodge 037 and Star of Sofia Lodge held a joint Christmas party. The aim was to enjoy each other’s company as well as to raise money for charity. Each attendee was requested to bring a small Teddy Bear with them; the aim was to collect in the region of 100 Teddy Bears. In fact, we collected in excess of 120 Teddy Bears and between the raffle and the auction raised 3,825 Leva. The funds were split between the two Lodges on a 50/50 basis and allocated towards their individual charity funds.
On December 20th 2012, two teams went out to present the Teddy Bears to two different hospitals. One team presented 30 Teddy Bears to the ward specialising in Paediatric Oncohaematological (Blood Cancers) at the I.S.U.L Hospital. Whilst there, we were shown the laboratory where the tests are carried out as well as the equipment which was bought with money donated from our previous fund-raising event. The other team distributed 95 Teddy Bears to the Paediatric Hospital of Sofia.
