The Annual Assembly of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Spain was held in Málaga in the Province of Andalucía on 2nd May 2015. In a magnificent venue the meeting was attended by 100 Companions. The meeting was honoured by the attendance of Official Representatives from the Supreme Grand Chapters of Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium.

The meeting was marked by the appointment of Most Excellent Companion Lawrence Howard as the Second Grand Principal. His predecessor, Most Excellent Companion Robert Munday, was appointed as Grand Chancellor with specific responsibility for establishing and building fraternal relationships with Supreme Grand Chapters in other Masonic Constitutions.

In his address to the meeting the Most Excellent First Grand Principal, Most Excellent Companion Óscar de Alfonso Ortega, thanked the companions for responding to his challenge, set the previous year, of growing the membership of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Spain by 50% over a three year period. After just one year, a growth of 40% of the target had been realised with a further 20% in the pipeline. He encouraged continuing commitment by all the companions to realise or exceed his target.

He also gave a very warm welcome to the Visiting Dignitaries, many of whom had attended in previous years. He thanked Most Excellent Companion Bob Munday for his continuing work in establishing strong fraternal bonds with other masonic constitutions and looked forward to this continuing work in this area.

The Most Excellent First Grand Principal paid particular thanks to the Grand Superintendent of Andalucía, Excellent Companion Sandy Shingler, together with his team for their sterling efforts in making this meeting so successful. He also thanked the Grand Scribe Ezra, Excellent Companion Ian Scambler, and the Grand Treasurer, Excellent Companion Brian Stapley, for their continuing hard work and support. Finally, he thanked the Grand Director of Ceremonies, Excellent Companion Graham Simons, and his team for their work in conducting a successful meeting.

At the conclusion of his address, Most Excellent Companion Óscar de Alfonso Ortega announced that the next Annual Assembly will be held in the city of Alicante on the 7th May 2016 under the stewardship of the Grand Superintendent of Valencia, Excellent Companion Norman Wheatley.
