Connecticut Masonic Scouters Association
CONNECTICUT MASONIC SCOUTERS ASSOCIATION
MISSION STATEMENT
The Connecticut Masonic Scouters Association (CMSA) is a group of Connecticut Masons and Scouters coming together in the bonds of Freemasonry and Scouting to promote and build upon the long standing positive relationship between Freemasonry and the Boy Scouts of America.
PURPOSE
The goal of CMSA is to bring Connecticut adult Scouters and Freemasons together for the purpose of enjoying our common values and to promote noteworthy activities while upholding the tenets of Freemasonry.
COMMON VALUES
The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910 by our Masonic Brothers Daniel Carter Beard, William D. Boyce and James E. West, along with Mr. Ernest Thompson Seton. These founding fathers succeeded in creating one of America’s finest youth organizations by introducing the values of Freemasonry which include good citizenship, patriotism, morality, loyalty, kindness, obedience, courage, and reverence. They also included teaching the skills of teamwork, management, leadership, effective communication, the ability to set and achieve long-range goals, and the value of brotherhood with men of strong character.
The Boy Scouts of America produce many young men, including Eagle Scouts, who may become members and leaders in our great Fraternity. The values of Freemasonry and Scouting are immensely complementary.
If you wish to become a CMSA member, contact Brother Seth Strohecker at seth.strohecker@gmail.com, or 'Click here to download membership application.’
JOINT COMMUNITY SERVICE
CMSA’s joint community service projects have proven to be very successful and include the Warm Coat Drive for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and The Salvation Army, the CMSA Food Drives for needy families, and the collection of aluminum can tabs in support of the Tabs for Tots program for Masonic charities.
CMSA also encourages all Masonic organizations to serve as charter organizations for Scout units. Additionally, CMSA encourages Scouts and adult Scouters to serve as volunteers at Masonicare at Newtown and Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. CMSA also encourage Masonic Scouters and their Blue Lodges to assist at CTCHIP events for local Cub Scouts and their families at major Scouting events.
