M.W. William Storer 1867-1868

William Storer

This distinguished blood brother of the equally distinguished Grand Secretary, Eliphalet G. Storer, was born about 1798. It is recorded that he affiliated with Asylum Lodge, No. 57, in 1825 but where he was raised has not been learned. Of this lodge he was Master in 1828. Three years later, on February 3, 1831, he affiliated with Hiram Lodge, No. 1. Moving to West Hartford he became interested in starting a new lodge. Of this body under dispensation and also when it received its charter in 1867 he served as Master.

Noted in Grand Lodge in 1826, he again appears as representing Hiram Lodge in 1843. From 1847 to 1857 Brother Storer was Chairman of the Committee on Correspondence. In 1864 he became Grand Junior Warden and in 1867 he was elected to the Grand East and served two years.

Concerning his life outside of Masonry we know little except that he was connected with the printing business. He died May 29, 1872, aged 74 years and was buried in New Haven.
