Leon M. Woodford

Our fifty-seventh Grand Master was born in Naugatuck, August 25, 1852. The writer has learned nothing as to his education or civic activities. .

Becoming a Master Mason in Shepherd Lodge No. 78, Januuary 13, 1877, at the next annual he was elected Junior Warden. The following year, 1879, he was Worshipful Master. in 1880, 1894 and 1895 he was again chosen for that honor and at various times was secretary and treasurer. His membership included Allerton Chapter No. 39, R. A. M., Waterbury Council No. 21, R. & S. M., and Clark Commandery No.7, K.T. Of the latter he was Eminent Commander and also Grand Commander of Connecticut in 1909. The Scottish Rite Bodies and the Veteran Association list him in their membership.

After serving as District Deputy for New Haven County during the year 1895 he started as Grand Junior Steward the next year and became Grand Master in 1903 serving with signal ability.

Brother Woodford was connected for thirty-five years with the Goodyear India Rubber Glove Manufacturing Co. His death occurred December 30, 1913.
