M.W. Walter Talcott Arnold 1925

Walter Talcott Arnold

Born April 11, 1874, at Rocky Hill Died February 12, 1937

Walter Talcott Arnold, after finishing his schooling, removed to Meriden where he became associated• with one of Connecticut's leading business institutions, the H. Wales Lines Company, contractors and builders. After serving with this company for several years in various capacities as estimator and architect, he opened his own office in Meriden and entered upon the practice of the profession of architecture. Many public "buildings and residences in Meriden, Hartford and neighboring towns are today monuments to his skill and craftsmanship. Masonic Temples in Meriden, West Hartford and Manchester are works of architecture that he may well be proud to have planned.

As a member of the Board of Managers of the Masonic Home he contributed much to the intelligence of that body, particularly in the upkeep and maintenance of the buildings.

Walter Arnold married Miss Helena R. Scheck, who survives him, as does a son, four daughters and several grandchildren.

Walter Arnold was raised in Center Lodge, No. 97, of Meriden, serving as Master in 1912, appointed District Deputy of the Fourth Masonic District in 1914, and elected Grand Master in 1925, later serving with distinction on several committees and appointments of the Grand Lodge. Past Grand Master Arnold was a capable executive and administrator, convincing in debate, sound in judgment. Masons in Connecticut, and wherever Walter Arnold's personality has been felt, will reflect upon his life as one devoted to loyalty of principle and courage of conviction.

A survey of nature, and the observations of her beautiful proportion first determined man to imitate the divine plan and study symmetry and order. This gave rise to societies and birth to every useful art. The architect began to design and the plans which he laid down being improved by time and experience have produced works which are the admiration of every age.
