Morris "Moe" I. Budkofsky, 70, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Selma (Melnick)

Budkofsky, died, Thursday (Dec. 7) at a local convalescent home. He was born in

Hartford, son of the late Louis and Sophie Budkofsky, and had lived in West Hartford for

38 years.

He was an electrician with the U.S. Navy during World War II, having served in the

Pacific. Moe's first business venture, along with a partner was the establishment in 1953

of Arrow Electric Service Company, which he operated until 1981. In 1960, he and

his partner formed B & L Realty, which was responsible for the construction of many

buildings including Ramblestone Apartments, Bloomfield Bowling center, and the Mini-
Mall Shopping Center.

As a licensed real estate broker, he was also involved in the sale, management and

rental of commercial and residential property. In 1973 he was one of the several local

businessmen who founded the Bloomfield State Bank, which later became Security Bank

& Trust.

Moe was a member of Temple Beth Israel of West Hartford. Throughout the years, he

was involved in numerous community and state organizations and activities including

Temple Beth Israel Men's Club, Ararat Chapter 13 B'Nai Brith, Hebrew Home and

Hospital Board of Trustees, Hartford Mutual Benefit Association Jewish War Veterans

Laurel Post 45, Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, Electrical Contractors Association

of CT, CT Bankers Association/Director's Division, CT Historical Commission,

Wintonbury Historical Society (Bloomfield), and the Jewish Historical Society of Greater

Hartford.

His greatest involvement, perhaps, was in the Masonic Fraternity. He was a Past Master

of Level Lodge no. 137 A.F. & A.M. in the Greater Hartford area, as well as a past Grand

Master of Masons in Connecticut.

Besides his wife of 47 years, he leaves his children; Alan and Sharon Budkofsky of

Bloomfield, and Debra and Michael Dworetsky of West Hartford; his grandchildren,

Larry and Dina Dworetsky, and Alyssa and Marc Budkofsky; hs brother and sister-in-
law, Harvey and Roz Budkofsky of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and several nieces and

nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Annette Winick, earlier this year.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, 12:30 p.m. at the Beth-Hillel Synagogue, 160

Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Interment will be in the Hartford Mutual Society, East

Granby. A memorial period will be observed at his home at 45 Brightview Dr., West

Hartford, through Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions in memory or Moe may

be made to Masonic Care, Masonic Avenue, Wallingford CT, 06492, to Brookview

Recreation department, 130 Loomis Dr., West Hartford CT, 06107, or to the Hebrew
