The Long Tan Cross is on loan to the AWM from Dong Nai Museum in Bien Hoa, with the support and approval of the Vietnamese Government.
In 1969, The Cross was placed at the site of the Long Tan battle which took place 18th August 1966. The Battle of Long Tan is described by the AWM thus; “The battle of Long Tan was Australia's most costly single engagement of the Vietnam War. During the nation's ten-year-long involvement in Vietnam, there were bigger and more sustained battles, involving larger formations. But few were so intense and dramatic.”
We have several veterans of the Vietnam War as members of Lodge Devotion and The Vietnam Memorial Installing Team often installs the Master of the Lodge. |
